The value of a CD in the new digital age

As the digital music age is taking the music market and industry alike by storm, with the iPod becoming a common personal digital music appliance and the initial download craze spreading with unstoppable momentum, it is so easy to loose sight of why the CD format of creating, delivering, consuming and collecting music remains not only legitimate, but very much viable, cherished and unchallenged by music lovers who care and appreciate the CD audio quality it offers and the artistic value of the CD's packaging artwork.

Just a quick note to say how much I identify with all that is said here about the value of a good CD in this digital download age.

I felt this way for a long time. I have a large CD collection, and to me each CD is more than just the collection of CD quality audio tracks. It is a complete product that expresses the creativity of the artist with how it was put together, the concept and complementing package and artwork.

Through the CD I identify with the creativity of the artist in so many more ways than I would if I just downloaded one or two tracks and did not have the CD. The download feels to me more like rushing to get good music for tomorrow's night party. where the artists gets lost as one or two tracks in a bucket of many downloads from many artists.

Good point and good article, CFTA. Keep the wonderful work you do for all the Indie artists and music in the world.
